I look in the mirror and put on a smile.
I ignore the sadness in my eyes.
But deep down I’m crying.
‘How are you?’ they ask,
‘I’m fine’ I reply.
But deep down I’m dying.
Another pill, another day,
Hoping the pain will leave me,
But deep down I’m lying.
I know the pain is here to stay,
Five minutes break is all I ask.
But deep down I’m begging.
I know I must struggle to win the battle,
I live to fight another day.
Because deep down,
I’m surviving.
